Soloist, Bill Nemoyten

Bill Nemoyten is a trombone player with the Pleasanton Community Concert Band. He has been playing the trombone for 63 years and holds a Bachelors degree in Music Education from Case Western Reserve University and a Masters degree in Music Education from Kent State University. He studied trombone with Merritt Eittert, principal trombonist with the Cleveland Orchestra.

Bill taught music in Ohio and California for almost 25 years, and was the Executive Director of the San Mateo County Arts Council. He taught Arts Administration for the UC Extension in San Francisco and Berkeley.

Bill has soloed with the Pleasanton Community Concert Band, the East Bay Symphonic Band, the North Bay Wind Ensemble, and the Naples (Florida) Concert Band. He has performed his Hornman show across the country. Bill resides in Hayward with his wife Barbara.

Bill Nemoyten performs as the "Hornman" on 12 instruments from around the world.

His show includes audience participation and lots of fun, but it is also educational. A former music teacher and arts administrator, Bill Nemoyten will perform on everything from a conch shell to a twelve foot long Alpine horn as well as on five brass instruments.

Bill has performed the "Hornman" show to great acclaim with the Windjammers national convention band, the East Bay Symphonic Band of Hayward, the North Bay Wind Ensemble of Napa, and the Naples Concert Band of Naples, Florida. Bill has also performed his show using a CD player accompaniment in over a hundred locations that include schools, libraries and retirement homes in the Bay Area, other parts of California, as well as in Arizona, Florida, and Ohio.
